Wasabi spice | Wasabi Addict

Wasabi spice

The wasabi spice is originally from the mountain valleys of Japan and grows down close to the water. While there are other parts of the world where the climate is acceptable for their cultivation, most of the wasabi comes from Japan. Other places that the wasabi spice can come from is New Zealand, mainland China, and surprisingly, Oregon in the United States

The wasabi spice has been used in Japan for centuries and has only become popular throughout the world more recently. Wasabi comes from the root of the wasabi plant and is ground into a fine powder before it’s typically turned into a green paste by mixing the powder with water.

Wasabi is best known for its hot flavor that effects the sinuses more than the mouth like hot peppers are known to do. Wasabi is also desirable because the effect isn’t as long lasting as that of peppers and can be lessened even more by drinking water.
